Privacy Policy

RightCareerTest is built on a fundamental principle: career guidance should be universally accessible, helpful, and completely private. We never sell your data, trap your results behind an email wall, or track your personal identity.

1. 100% Client-Side Processing

When you complete a quiz on RightCareerTest, every mathematical calculation—including your Holland RIASEC dimension normalization, Pearson correlation coefficients, and career match rankings—is computed strictly within your local web browser via client-side JavaScript.

Your individual question responses and personality interest scores are never transmitted to our servers or stored in any remote database. When you close your browser tab, your active session data disappears unless you save your URL.

2. URL-Based Results & Query String Architecture

To allow you to bookmark, print, share, or revisit your career recommendations without forcing you to register an account or provide an email address, your test results are encoded directly into the web address.

Exact URL Format:

Quick Mode: /results/?v=2.3&code=IAS&scores=45,85,60,30,55,40&mode=quick

Values Insights Mode: /results/?v=2.3&code=IAS&scores=45,85,60,30,55,40&mode=refine&values=autonomy:100;growth:100;impact:100

The parameters in your results URL consist strictly of:

v: The mathematical scoring algorithm version (currently 2.3).
code: Your 3-letter Holland RIASEC code (e.g., IAS), derived from your top three scoring interest dimensions.
scores: Six comma-separated integers (0–100) representing your normalized dimension scores in canonical order: Realistic (R), Investigative (I), Artistic (A), Social (S), Enterprising (E), and Conventional (C).
mode: The test completion tier (quick for the 18-question core test, refine when you complete the optional Values Insights extension).
values (optional): In Values Insights mode, semicolon-separated pairs (trait:score) capturing your top workplace values choices from the trade-offs (e.g., autonomy:100;growth:100;impact:100).

What is NOT in the URL: Your individual question responses (which specific 1–5 answers you chose for each question prompt) are never recorded in the URL. Only the synthesized aggregate scores and values choices are present.

Sharing Notice: Your Link Displays Your Results & Values Choices

Because results are reconstructed entirely on the client from the URL parameter string, anyone who has your specific results link can view your Holland code, interest scores, matched careers, and your selected workplace values choices. If you wish to keep your profile or personal values choices private, do not share your results URL.

Analytics Privacy: Our analytics configuration strictly strips all query strings from /results/ visits before logging. Our telemetry only records that the results page was loaded, never your scores, Holland code, parameters, or values choices.

3. Zero Tracking Cookies & No Ad Networks

RightCareerTest does not use third-party advertising networks, surveillance marketing pixels, or invasive behavioral cookies. Because we do not track you across the web or collect personal information, you will never see an intrusive cookie consent banner or deceptive tracking opt-in on this site.

4. Privacy-Friendly Anonymous Analytics (Plausible)

To monitor site performance, identify broken links, and understand high-level traffic trends, we use Plausible Analytics—a lightweight, open-source, privacy-first web analytics platform that complies fully with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR regulations without using cookies.

What Plausible collects:

Page URL: The path of pages visited (with all query strings stripped on /results/ so quiz answers are never sent)
HTTP Referrer: The website or search engine that referred you to RightCareerTest
Device & Browser: Broad device category (mobile, tablet, desktop), operating system, and browser engine
Country & Region: Geographic location at the country/region level, derived in-memory without ever storing or logging your IP address
Anonymous Aggregated Events: High-level lifecycle milestone counts (quiz_start, quiz_complete_quick, quiz_complete_refine, result_share, result_print, career_click)

Plausible does not use cookies, generate persistent cross-site device fingerprints, store IP addresses, or build personal behavioural profiles. All analytics data is strictly aggregated and cannot be tied back to any individual user.

5. Data Storage in LocalStorage

To prevent you from losing progress if you accidentally refresh during the test, we save your current question index and selected answers in your browser's local storage (localStorage). This data stays entirely on your computer or mobile device and can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser cache.

6. Public Data Attribution & Transparency

Our occupational recommendations and baseline statistics are built from public domain datasets published by the U.S. Federal Government:

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS): Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (May 2024 release) and Employment Projections (2024–2034 cycle).
O*NET 31.0 Database: Occupational interest ratings developed under the sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Labor / ETA (CC BY 4.0 license).
